Heriot-Watt University’s textile archive and museum collection, housed at its Scottish Borders Campus, Galashiels, is internationally recognised as a resource for the history of design and fashion from the 18th century to the present. The collection is an important resource for economic, social and local history and an inspiration for rising generations of new designers and established textile companies. The archive also charts the evolution of textile education at Galashiels from 1887 to the present. The collection is complemented by resources in the campus library, which include journals 1877 – 1995, such as the Textile Manufacturer and the Wool Record, plus other related monographs and publications.
