Glossary Term: Ayrshire whitework

Glossary Definition: Traditional cutwork embroidery technique initially produced in Ayrshire on fine white cotton using a combination of satin stitching and needle lace fillings usually with floral designs. Often used for christening robes and babies' clothing.
